Voting Restrictions Pass in Indiana Despite Public Pushback

An "assault on democracy,” Common Cause Indiana called it. The League of Women Voters, too, opposed a raft of legislation that would make voting more difficult. Even so, the Republican supermajority enacted it this spring. The Indiana Citizen adds, though, that public protest did help to scuttle two especially controversial bills. One would have shortened the early voting period. The other would have permitted only members of a political party to vote in that party's primary.
