Lawmakers weaken public access as demand for transparency surges

If any level of government in Indiana fails to provide a public document or closes what is supposed to be a public meeting, citizens may turn to the state's public access counselor. Hoosiers were contacting that tiny office 50-100 times a day by the time the previous PAC quit, he told the Indiana Capital Chronicle. The Chronicle says it's been unable to reach the state's new public access counselor. All this, after lawmakers made it harder for the office to be helpful.
