Indiana pulls out of summer food program for 700,000 kids

Indiana has withdrawn from a federal program that helps needy families buy food for their kids — nearly 700,000 Hoosier kids — during the summer months. According to the Indiana Capital Chronicle, officials did not respond when asked what the program cost the state or why Indiana has pulled out. Says the executive director of the Indy Hunger Network: "(I)t just feels like a giant leap backwards."
