Despite Scandals, Lawmakers Approve $10M Boost for Secretary of State
Republican lawmakers on the State Budget Committee joined Democrats in grilling Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales. That's because of "no-bid contracts to campaign donors, spot bonuses to a relative, overseas trips, absence at a crucial legislative budget hearing, alleged election law violation, and $90,000 taxpayer-paid luxury SUV," IndyStar reports. But in the end, the Indiana Capital Chronicle* tells us, the committee approved Morales' request to increase his budget by $10 million.
